Ashdown Double Robe with Drawers ASH11:The Ashdown range of fully assembled furniture from manufacturers CPW is new for 2008. Clean lines and simple styling result in a contemporary range of furniture that has a light, fresh feel about it.
Ashdown furniture is made from Ash; a good quality hardwood noted for its elasticity and shock-resistant properties (hence its use in times past for tool handles, tennis racquets and cartwheel spokes). An ash veneer covers the wood sections to provide a pleasing uniformity of appearance and this is given a final finish of natural lacquer.
A refreshing alternative to oak or pine furniture, it is a sign of quality in Ashdown furniture that drawers are constructed using dovetailed joints.
It is a fully assembled range although some larger items such as beds and wardrobes may be partially dismantled to facilitate delivery.
Please note: Much of the hardwood used for furniture manufactured in Asia may be described locally as Oak. While its appearance, density and durability is almost identical to oak, sometimes this timber is actually from the Ash (Fraxinus) family. In order to be as accurate as possible, we therefore market this furniture as being made from Ash, even though the manufacturer’s packaging may say Oak.
Wardrobes: Important information
This wardrobe is a large, heavy item of furniture that is difficult to manoeuvre in its entirety. Due to the risks of causing damage to property or injury to persons this wardrobe is therefore supplied partially dismantled for delivery. It is designed to be partially dismantled and this does not detract from its quality, nor does it classify it as ‘flat pack furniture.’ In fact this is a practice that top quality furniture makers have been using since the middle of the 19th Century.

Ash furniture characteristics
What should you expect from your ash furniture purchase from this website? Ash is a natural material with beautiful variations of grain patter, knots and colour in every piece of furniture. So, no two pieces of ash furniture you buy from this website will be exactly alike.
You’ll find that your ash furniture will gradually mellow (darken) in colour over time, so new ash furniture will initially look paler that older ash furniture. Because of this, for the first few months after you’ve bought your ash furniture, we advise that you do not leave a vase, ornament or other item in one place on the ash for too long, as the area of furniture covered will mellow less that the surrounding area. Ash furniture finishes
Ash furniture is generally available in three types of finish. They are:
1. White or sometimes referred to as raw. Raw means that the ash furniture has no stain or topcoat – just a naturally beautiful look
2. Lacquered. The ash furniture has been stained to a colour of choice and then a clear lacquer is added. This gives the ash furniture a tougher shell which makes it far more resistant to stains, moisture and scratches. This type of finish is the easiest to maintain and clean for ash furniture. The

3. Waxed. Our waxed ash furniture is finished in water-based stain and real wax. Waxed ash furniture will benefit from the occasional application of solid wax furniture polish, particularly in its first few months in your home. The sheen of the surface on the ash furniture will probably increase as you apply and buff more furniture wax. Between wax applications, day-to-day ash furniture cleaning can be carried out with a dry duster. The
