Sherwood Ash Blanket Box:The Sherwood range uses solid ash hardwood for elements such as legs and cabinet frames while large sections are formed from layered panels neatly finished with real ash veneer. Finished in a durable lacquer and using contemporary styled metal handles, the overall result has a very pleasing appearance.
What is surprising is that the Sherwood range is supplied as self-assembly furniture. Despite the obvious savings this brings, the quality of construction and finish means that it compares well with other, much more expensive, furniture ranges.
Please note: Much of the hardwood used for furniture manufactured in Asia may be described locally as Oak. While its appearance, density and durability is almost identical to oak, sometimes this timber is actually from the Ash (Fraxinus) family. In order to be as accurate as possible, we therefore market this furniture as being made from Ash, even though the manufacturer’s packaging may say Oak.
Sherwood is a classic design made from natural ash. The refined styling of this range is complemented by the use of real wood and natural wood veneer. Each piece in the range is produced from real wood sections and layered panels which are enhanced by real Ash veneer.
This process gives you the look and feel that only real wood offers. Every piece is lovingly treated with a clear lacquer to give your furniture a quality finish which is very easy to maintain with an occasional wipe with a slightly dampened cloth.
Sherwood’s generous proportions are complemented by metal bar handles which complete the stylish look of this range.

Ash furniture finishes
Ash furniture is generally available in three types of finish. They are:
1. White or sometimes referred to as raw. Raw means that the ash furniture has no stain or topcoat – just a naturally beautiful look
2. Lacquered. The ash furniture has been stained to a colour of choice and then a clear lacquer is added. This gives the ash furniture a tougher shell which makes it far more resistant to stains, moisture and scratches. This type of finish is the easiest to maintain and clean for ash furniture. The
Devonshire New Solid Oak Dining is Lacquered
3. Waxed. Our waxed ash furniture is finished in water-based stain and real wax. Waxed ash furniture will benefit from the occasional application of solid wax furniture polish, particularly in its first few months in your home. The sheen of the surface on the ash furniture will probably increase as you apply and buff more furniture wax. Between wax applications, day-to-day ash furniture cleaning can be carried out with a dry duster. The
Devonshire Tarka Range is available in a waxed finish.
Furniture finishes: wooden furniture
There are two main types of furniture finish waxed and lacquered.
Waxing furniture involves coating the wooden furniture with a thin layer of the wax, such as the
Devonshire Pine Collection. The majority of people who request a wax finish for their wooden furniture are seeking the rustic furniture look, which is exactly what waxed furniture gives you!
If you are seeking a cleaner, more perfectly finished look then you should consider a lacquered finish. The
Devonshire New Solid Oak range is a popular choice for lacquered furniture.
There are emerging ranges such as the increasingly popular
Trafalgar Oak Collection that are designed to offer a specific rustic appearance. Another fine example is
The Hampshire collection which is made from reclaimed wood.
