CPW Wealdon oak Dressing Table Mirror:The Wealden range is fully assembled solid oak furniture. It enjoys many of the features of good quality furniture including, for example, the use of solid wood panelling to drawer bases and cabinet backs.
Drawers are made with dovetailed joints and use traditional wooden runners. The Wealden range has an oiled finish that enhances the appearance of the wood and has the advantage over lacquered finishes in that it can be refreshed with periodic reapplications of oil.
The bold use of straight lines is very much in line with contemporary styling, yet there is also a hint of Art Deco, particularly in the bookcases, glazed cabinets and dining chairs.
It is a fully assembled range although some larger items such as tables, beds and wardrobes may be partially dismantled to facilitate delivery.
The Wealden Oak Dining & Living Room collections features a straight-line design, stylishly combined with tapered legs. The oak is finished with Danish oil, which enhances its rich appearance. Cast metal handles co-ordinate and complement the overall aesthetic of the range.
The Wealden Collection comes from CPW who have this to say ‘Conceived to create beautiful statements in living spaces, dining areas and bedrooms, over 50 carefully crafted pieces come together to provide the Wealden collection with a contemporary attitude in robust and hardwearing oak.
Finished in character enhancing Danish Oil to bring the rich, natural beauty of the wood to life, the Wealden range cuts its stance from a straight edge design with tapering legs to create a proclamation in cabinet making.’
The collection comes fully assembled.
Oak furniture finishes
Oak furniture from rightpricefurniture is generally available in three types of finish. They are:
1. White or sometimes referred to as raw. Raw means that the oak furniture has no stain or topcoat – just a naturally beautiful look.
2. Lacquered. The oak furniture has been stained to a colour of choice and then a clear lacquer is added. This gives the oak furniture a tougher shell which makes it far more resistant to stains, moisture and scratches. This type of finish is the easiest to maintain and clean for oak furniture.
3. Waxed. Our waxed oak furniture is finished in water-based stain and real wax. Waxed oak furniture will benefit from the occasional application of solid wax furniture polish, particularly in its first few months in your home. The sheen of the surface on the oak furniture will probably increase as you apply and buff more furniture wax. Between wax applications, day-to-day oak furniture cleaning can be carried out with a dry duster.
Oak Furniture care tips, from rightpricefurniture
Oak furniture care tips include ensuring that neither hot nor wet objects are placed on waxed oak furniture, as they can cause marks on the oak. If you should accidentally cause a heat or damp mark on your oak furniture, try rubbing the furniture’s surface gently along the grain only with some wax oak furniture polish applied to a piece of 0000 grade (very fine) wire wool. Provided that the marking is not too serious, this process should reduce or eliminate the mark and your
oak furniture will be as good as new once more. It may be necessary to extend your wire wool and wax treatment to the whole surface of the oak furniture in order to even out the sheen of the finish.
