Solid Wood Wine Racks

French wine makers were originally opposed to the use of cork as a means of sealing wine bottles, preferring instead to use rags soaked in olive oil.  Gradually however the cork became universally adopted, with the one provision being that the bottles must be stored on their sides so the wine would keep the cork moist.  This prevented it shrinking and letting in air which would spoil the contents of the bottle.  Since then wine racks have always been designed to store bottles laid on their sides.

Of course today the development of synthetic corks, plastic stoppers and screw top bottles all prevent the wine from being spoiled but our charming selection of wine racks are still an attractive way to store your prized drink.
