A
solid oak dresser is a time-honoured item of furniture available in both a classic and modern design. The combination of style and usefulness means that Oak Dressers are not something that will ever be going out of style any time soon. Dressers give excellent upright storage solutions that are suited to any area including the kitchen and
dining room and will always enhance any environment they occupy.
Like almost every piece of modern furniture, dressers come in a huge range of both colour and material, but here at Right Price Furniture we are focussed on all things solid wood and that naturally includes oak dressers. We stock a complete oak furniture range allowing for the creation of a coordinated home design, including furniture items such as
oak chairs,
oak dining tables, and
TV cabinets. The natural variance in tone and the grain of oak wood induces a strong sensual experience of warmth and homeliness and as such Solid Oak furniture never fails to impress.
The multi-purpose characteristics of a solid oak dresser lends it to being the ideal candidate for both, a two in one combination of sideboard and display cabinet, or if you just prefer the sideboard, you can find them in our
oak sideboard section. Typically an oak dresser has a variety of drawers, shelving and cupboards built into it providing flexible options with how to present items such as crockery, vases and framed photos of the family. The drawers and cupboards are great places to hide away items that you dont want on display, such as paperwork, tableware and various other random bits that no home can escape from gathering.
Our
Oak Dressers come built 100% from solid oak. Even the drawers and backs are all made from solid wood, so you know your new oak dresser with last for beyond a lifetime. For example our
Cambridge Solid Oak Dresser comes with not just a solid oak frame, but also wax finished, with antique style metal handles to complete the oak dresser.
Oak furniture (especially
Oak Dressers) is very robust and it can last for many generations when cared for correctly. However, even when treated with care, Oak can become damaged by water or acidic substances (soda, juice, etc) over time. Baring the oak dresser (stripping the original finish off) and then retreating the wood is a time consuming process, but for most stains a mixture of proper cleaning and spot treatment will be able to remove spots and minor damages to your finish.
Things You will Need:
1. Soft rag.
2. Mineral spirits.
3. Furniture spray wax (Old English).
4. An Oak Dresser (obviously)
Wet your rag with the mineral spirits. Mineral spirits will soften the finish on your oak furniture and dry out any moisture as well. Wipe the spots in smooth circular strokes. You will want to start out with small circles and gradually increase the size of the circles to spread the finish around evenly. This will take some time. Then allow the wood to dry. This should take about twenty to thirty minutes. Spray your rag down with spray wax. This will become the sealant coat to prevent further spots and damage to your furniture. Wipe down your furniture with the waxed rag, using the same technique as in Step 2.
Hey presto, give yourself a hearty pat on the back for a job well done.
