Further product information:
PD Global Ascot pine or painted 6 drawer chest:
This 6 Drawer Chest from the Ascot range is made of solid pine throughout.  The sides, front and base of the drawers are pine and the the rear panel of the cabinet is also made of pine.  This chest is built using a jointed and glued method of construction for strength and the drawers are made using dovetail joints.

All items in the Ascot range are available in a choice of wood or painted finishes, with additional finishes also being offered under the Epsom name from Right Price Furniture.
PD Global Ascot Painted and Pine bedroom furniture
This is an attractive collection of Victorian-inspired pine bedroom furniture.  Features include the turned feet, moulded edging to drawer and door fronts and arched decoration to the top edge of wardrobe doors.   Handles are also turned from wood, adding to the modest yet serviceable appearance of the range.

Traditional styling and a choice of several wood or painted finishes lends itself to a wide range of rustic style interior designs.

Knots are the marks where a limb or branch has been cut off when trees are converted into planks.  In new timber, nutrients in the form of resin may continue to pass through these points for some considerable time, causing 'bleeding' through to the surface.  This is a natural process and is more noticeable with painted furniture.

PLEASE NOTE:
Painted finishes PT1, PT2, PT3, PT4, PT5, PT6 and PT7 are special order items. See our FAQs for more information.

The Ascot collection is supplied fully assembled, although larger items may be broken down into component form to facilitate delivery.

1904 Chest of Drawers History

The simple wooden chest was the multi-purpose storage solution from the medieval age.  Later, during the Tudor and Stuart period, the invention of the dovetail joint meant drawers could be made in such a way that they did not easily fall apart.  Drawers could then be added to the base of chests, creating mule chests, and gradually the remainder of the open chest was also then replaced with drawers - resulting in the 'chest of drawers' we know today

MDF or Medium Density Fibreboard, which is now widely used in furniture manufacturing, first appeared in the 1980s.  MDF is made from a pulp of softwood which new manufacturing techniques could transform into sheeting by applying high temperatures and pressures.  The material has a smooth, blemish-free, surface that is highly suitable for painted furniture.
