VAT reduction offsets furniture price increases

99% of cabinet furniture supplied by retailers in the UK is either manufactured abroad or made in the UK from imported supplies of timber. The current fall in value of the Pound against other major world currencies means the cost of purchasing the furniture and timber has risen by between 20-40%.

Manufacturers have been forced to pass on these increases to retailers. This makes it inevitable that retail prices will have to rise by similar amounts – that is 20-40%.
