Background

The chair, as opposed to a stool or bench, has been a common item in most households since Elizabethan times. Its styling and development, particularly since the 19th Century, has been a good reflection of the culture of the relevant period.

In recent times perhaps the greatest developments have been within the lounge chair and office chair sectors, with the emphasis in both being upon increasing adjustability to suit the comfort and needs of the individual. These are both highly specialist market sectors producing furniture in various materials such as metal and plastic. As such they do not really fit within our offer of good quality wood tables, chairs and cabinet furniture.
