Why hasn’t my wardrobe/bed/table been delivered fully assembled?
Wardrobes and other large or heavy items of furniture are difficult to manoeuvre. This presents a risk of causing damage to property or injury to persons. To minimize these risks, large items of furniture are often partially dismantled for delivery. They are designed to be partially dismantled, this does not detract from their quality, it does not make them ‘flat pack furniture’ and it is a practice that top quality furniture makers have been using since the middle of the 19th Century.
What is a ‘distressed finish’ or ‘distressed furniture’? Distressed furniture is a highly popular style which is available in natural, stained or painted finishes. A piece of distressed furniture is one that has been purposefully aged using a variety of time-honoured methods. It often exudes a humble and understated character, which will complement and enhance the traditional feel of your home.

What do I need to know about owning hardwood furniture?Wood and wood-based furniture has inherent inconsistencies in the absorbency of its surface. It is inevitable therefore that this will result in moderate colour variations in solid hardwood furniture.
Knots are the marks where a limb or branch has been cut off when trees are converted into planks. In new timber, nutrients in the form of resin may continue to pass through these points for some considerable time, causing 'bleeding' through to the surface. This is a natural process and is more noticeable with solid hardwood furniture.
There are also variations in colour finishes depicted on the internet due to technical factors, such a lighting of the furniture when photographed, editing of images and variations between video display units (VDUs).

Can you be careful of my new carpet/new floor?Staff making deliveries are required by law to wear protective footwear at all times. As they are not allowed to remove this footwear when unloading the vehicle, gaining access to the property, or carrying furniture into the property, we strongly advise customers to make proper provision to protect their carpets and flooring. We do not accept responsibility for any marks or damage that may inadvertently be caused by delivery staff during the normal course of their work.
