Further product information:
Oakhampton Single Pedestal Dressing Table:The Oakhampton range is made from solid hardwoods. Oak is used exclusively on smaller items while larger furniture features solid oak and ash attractively matched together.
Cabinets and tables are of jointed and glued construction and solid wood panelling is used for drawer bases and cabinet backs.
Drawers are made using dovetailed joints and are mounted on traditional wooden runners. Oakhampton furniture is finished in a low-gloss lacquer.
Oakhampton is sometimes referred to as Oakleigh, click to the
Oakleigh Bedroom Collection.
It is a fully assembled range although some larger items such as beds and wardrobes may be partially dismantled to facilitate delivery.
Please note: Much of the hardwood used for furniture manufactured in Asia may be described locally as Oak. While its appearance, density and durability is almost identical to oak, sometimes this timber is actually from the Ash (Fraxinus) family. In order to be as accurate as possible, we therefore market this furniture as being made from Ash, even though the manufacturer’s packaging may say Oak.
The Oakhampton Bedroom Range is made throughout of hardwoods which ash and oak is featured.
With its tough chuncky construction and fully dovetailed drawers it makes it very durable.
Its beautiful clear lacquer finish makes it more resistant than oiled furniture.
Oak Furniture care tips, from rightpricefurniture
Oak furniture care tips include ensuring that neither hot nor wet objects are placed on waxed oak furniture, as they can cause marks on the oak. If you should accidentally cause a heat or damp mark on your oak furniture, try rubbing the furniture’s surface gently along the grain only with some wax oak furniture polish applied to a piece of 0000 grade (very fine) wire wool. Provided that the marking is not too serious, this process should reduce or eliminate the mark and your
oak furniture will be as good as new once more. It may be necessary to extend your wire wool and wax treatment to the whole surface of the oak furniture in order to even out the sheen of the finish.
Care of ash furniture
Ash furniture care: here are some tips. Firstly, place your newly bought ash furniture in the right location: away from direct heat sources (e.g. radiators) or unusually humid locations.
Our second ash furniture care tip is to always lift your furniture if you want to move it, rather than dragging furniture across the floor. Lifting your furniture to move it will ensure you don’t damage the plinth structure.
Thirdly, don’t place hot or wet objects directly onto ash furniture, especially if it is waxed ash furniture. If you accidentally cause any marks on your ash furniture in this way, try rubbing your ash furniture along the grain with some wax furniture polish applied to some very fine (0000 grade) wire wool.
