Old Cotswold farmhouse bench:Old Cotswold contemporary furniture captures the true charm and values of the traditional country furniture on which it has been based.
It is every inch the furniture that might have been commissioned by a Yeoman Farmer of the local carpenter. But carefully designed proportions, fittings and even seasoning of the timber, makes it practical and convenient for use in modern homes.
The Old Cotswold collection is supplied fully assembled, although larger items such as beds, tables and wardrobes may be broken down into component form to facilitate delivery.
Please note: this range has a heavily distressed finish, with marks and some significant scarring. Surfaces are deliberately made to look heavily worn.
The Old Cotswold collection, like many furniture styles, is inspired by earlier designs; but Old Cotswold contemporary furniture achieves far more than just a new look. It really captures the true charm and values of the traditional country furniture on which it has been based.
Fashioned from thick boards of solid oak and presented in a distressed finish, it is every inch the furniture that might have been commissioned by a Yeoman Farmer of the local carpenter. But carefully designed proportions, fittings and even seasoning of the timber, makes it practical and convenient for use in modern homes.
The Old Cotswold collection is supplied fully assembled, although larger items may be broken down into component form to facilitate delivery.
Care of oak furniture
Oak furniture care: here are some tips from rightpricefurniture. Firstly, place your newly bought oak furniture in the right location: away from direct heat sources (e.g. radiators) or unusually humid locations.
Our second oak furniture care tip is to always lift your furniture if you want to move it, rather than dragging furniture across the floor. Lifting your furniture to move it will ensure you don’t damage the plinth structure.
You should not place hot or wet objects directly onto oak furniture, especially if it is waxed oak furniture. If you accidentally cause any marks on your oak furniture in this way, try rubbing your oak furniture along the grain with some wax furniture polish applied to some very fine (0000 grade) wire wool. Oak furniture finishes
Oak furniture from rightpricefurniture is generally available in three types of finish. They are:
1. White or sometimes referred to as raw. Raw means that the oak furniture has no stain or topcoat – just a naturally beautiful look.
2. Lacquered. The oak furniture has been stained to a colour of choice and then a clear lacquer is added. This gives the oak furniture a tougher shell which makes it far more resistant to stains, moisture and scratches. This type of finish is the easiest to maintain and clean for oak furniture.
3. Waxed. Our waxed oak furniture is finished in water-based stain and real wax. Waxed oak furniture will benefit from the occasional application of solid wax furniture polish, particularly in its first few months in your home. The sheen of the surface on the oak furniture will probably increase as you apply and buff more furniture wax. Between wax applications, day-to-day oak furniture cleaning can be carried out with a dry duster.
