This is an attractive collection of Victorian-inspired pine bedroom furniture. Features include the turned feet, moulded edging to drawer and door fronts and arched decoration to the top edge of wardrobe doors. Handles are also turned from wood, adding to the modest yet serviceable appearance of the range.

Furniture finishes: wooden furniture

There are two main types of furniture finish waxed and lacquered.

Waxing furniture involves coating the wooden furniture with a thin layer of the wax, such as the Devonshire Pine Collection. The majority of people who request a wax finish for their wooden furniture are seeking the rustic furniture look, which is exactly what waxed furniture gives you!

If you are seeking a cleaner, more perfectly finished look then you should consider a lacquered finish. The Devonshire New Solid Oak range is a popular choice for lacquered furniture.

There are emerging ranges such as the increasingly popular Trafalgar Oak Collection that are designed to offer a specific rustic appearance. Another fine example is The Hampshire collection which is made from reclaimed wood.

Chests of drawers

Chests of drawers from rightpricefurniture are of the highest quality and are made from solid wood. Wooden furniture will expand and contract within its environment, and as back and chest of drawer bases are made from interlocking wooden boards, these may show some shrinkage as the wooden furniture ages. This is quite normal, particularly in centrally heated homes. You can care for your chest of drawers by ensuring it’s placed away from direct heat sources (such as radiators).

To combat this contraction and expansion some of the higher end furniture manufactures offer tongue and groove bases, examples include Devonshire Tarka Pine Furniture and the Badger Pine Collections.
