Devonshire Solid Double Bed 4ft 6in:Ash is a timber long known and prized for its toughness and shock proof qualities. Indeed its name comes from the Anglo Saxon word aesc, meaning spear. Its grain is similar to oak but with a more pronounced pattern, so the exceptionally neat proportions and minimal styling of our Ash collection is a perfect showcase for this attractive wood.
Each piece is made of solid wood, fully assembled and finished. The solid wood panelling used for cabinet backs and drawer bases; together with dovetail joints for drawer construction are quality hallmarks of all this furniture.
Please note: although this range is fully assembled, larger items such as beds, wardrobes and tables are partially dismantled for delivery purposes. This is entirely in keeping with the long traditions of quality British furniture and in no way detracts from the quality of the product.
Important Information
This bed is a large item of furniture. In its fully assembled form it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to gain access with it into most of the rooms chosen for its use. It is therefore supplied partially dismantled into four or five major assemblies. This has been a common practice for beds since medieval times.
Re-assembly of this bed is a relatively straightforward procedure requiring only basic tools. If however you require assistance, please tell the delivery service when they contact you to arrange the delivery date. Please note there is a charge for this service.
Ash Furniture: character

How to move ash furniture
Ash furniture bought from this website will be moved into your house for you. However, if you want to move your ash furniture once you have bought it, you should always lift your furniture rather than dragging it. Ash furniture has a plinth structure, and dragging it can cause damage to this.
Some two-part items of ash furniture are provided with installation fixings (eg: to secure the top and bottom ash furniture sections together). For your safety, if any of these are enclosed when the ash furniture is delivered, they should always be used.
Additionally, if you are moving your ash furniture then make sure you choose a suitable location. Ash furniture should be placed away from heat sources (eg: radiators), and you should also place ash furniture away from unusually humid locations.
