Ashdown Bed Large ASH50:The Ashdown range of fully assembled furniture from manufacturers CPW is new for 2008. This furniture exhibits many quality features - such as dovetail drawer joints - and is slightly different in that it is made from ash rather than the more familiar oak.
Ash is a native British hardwood, noted for its shock-resistant properties. When fashioned into the clean lines and simple styling of the Ashdown range it results in a contemporary collection of furniture that has a light, fresh feel about it.
It is a fully assembled range although some larger items such as beds and wardrobes may be partially dismantled to facilitate delivery.
Please note: Much of the hardwood used for furniture manufactured in Asia may be described locally as Oak. While its appearance, density and durability is almost identical to oak, sometimes this timber is actually from the Ash (Fraxinus) family. In order to be as accurate as possible, we therefore market this furniture as being made from Ash, even though the manufacturer’s packaging may say Oak.
The Ashdown collection is superior quality ash furniture beautifully crafted for the ultimate in bedtime relaxation, finished in a natural lacquer.
This is a new range from CPW constructed from Solid Ash and Veneer Panels. It offers a new twist on a traditional style.
The wood is a hardwood, tough and very strong and offers high strength and resilience. The lacquer produces a hard, durable finish. All joints are dovetailed front and back.
Important information
This bed is a large item of furniture. In its fully assembled form it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to gain access with it into most of the rooms chosen for its use. It is therefore supplied partially dismantled into four or five major assemblies. This has been a common practice for beds since medieval times. Re-assembly of this bed is a relatively straightforward procedure requiring only basic tools. If however you require assistance, please tell the delivery service when they contact you to arrange the delivery date. Please note there is a charge for this service.
Ash Furniture care tips
Ash furniture care tips include ensuring that neither hot nor wet objects are placed on ash furniture, as they can cause marks on the ash. If you should accidentally cause a heat or damp mark on your ash furniture, try rubbing the furniture’s surface gently along the grain only with some wax oak furniture polish applied to a piece of 0000 grade (very fine) wire wool. Provided that the marking is not too serious, this process should reduce or eliminate the mark and your ash furniture will be as good as new once more. It may be necessary to extend your wire wool and wax treatment to the whole surface of the ash furniture in order to even out the sheen of the finish.

Ash furniture
Furniture made of ash will generally mellow (darken) in colour over time. Ash furniture you can buy on this website is of a country style design and each piece of furniture will have slight variations – for example, the texture of the grain, colour of the ash furniture, etc.
If you want to move the ash furniture you have bought from us once we have delivered it to you, take care to lift it (rather than drag it), as this will avoid any damage to the plinth structure of your furniture.
Look after your ash furniture by ensuring it’s placed away from direct heat sources (e.g. radiators) and this piece of furniture will last you for a great number of years!
