On the face of it, buying any item of furniture today whether its
oak furniture,
pine furniture,
painted furniture or any other kind should be easier than ever, with the global trade in products of all kinds. But the problem with furniture is that it is difficult to see all the different ranges of beds, chests, wardrobes and whatever in one place - let alone specialist sub-groups, like
oak wardrobes,
painted wardrobes etc.
Traditional retailers are limited by the space they have available to display items. Also, as the number of customers is limited by the store’s location, they have to add higher margins to their sales to cover their operating costs.
Great choice at great prices
At Right Price Furniture here in South Wales we offer the oak, painted and pine solutions for all your furniture requirements. Of course we like to see visitors at our Bridgend showrooms (see our views on the advantages of
furniture stores) but by operating on the internet there is no limit to the size of our showrooms. If we see bedroom, living or dining room furniture that we think our customers would like, we can simply add it to our site.
Along with great choice comes the fact that our customer numbers are not limited by the distance from our
Bridgend store. With more customers buying more furniture, it means we can still operate profitably even though we charge much less than high street furniture retailers. So, if you want a particular bedside cabinet or a solid oak dining set; that painted wardrobe you’ve always fancied or a really stylish suite of good quality solid pine furniture, then you’ll find we offer a huge selection from which to choose. The great thing is that you won’t have to pay the earth for it either – whether you live in Carlisle or Cardiff, Devon or Dorset, Nottingham or Newhaven.
What about quality?
Well of course quality is the big question when buying furniture without having seen it first. At Right Price Furniture we only deal with top quality manufacturers and suppliers such as
Devonshire Pine,
CPW and Kettle Containers. Of course, we are always on the lookout for new styles and ranges of furniture but if a supplier doesn’t live up to our expectations we will remove their products from our site.
So, if you see an item of furniture on our website, from the biggest dressers, wardrobes, chests of drawers or beds to the simple lamp table, chair or bedside cabinet you can be sure we have done all we can to check the quality is as it should be.
It is inevitable that sometimes furniture isn’t quite what the customer expected although in most cases this is because the customer may not have fully understood the description of the item rather than due to any defect in the quality of the product.
We do try to describe all our products as accurately as possible and will sometimes amend descriptions following feedback from our customers. To help even further, we also produce short
You Tube videos to describe our products and services.
What are you waiting for?
So there you have it, great choice, great prices and if you don’t like the furniture you can always send it back. Please read our website and feel free to order your new furniture with confidence – we like to keep our customers and encourage them to tell their friends about us as well.

Why we take the trouble to help
Here at Right Price Furniture we have a relatively small number of staff and most of us like to follow different interests in our leisure time including mountain biking, motorsport and even amateur opera! But at work you’ll find there is a common interest: furniture.
Some of us enjoy making, repairing, painting or finishing furniture. Others enjoy talking with customers and helping them to find just the right piece or pieces for that perfect interior. We also have people who take a keen interest in the history and development of furniture (and then putting it on our website). Basically we enjoy what we do and we like our customers to enjoy their ‘furniture experience’ as well. If you have any questions or concerns then please email us and they can be forwarded to the appropriate person.
In recent months we have tried even harder to find new ways to help our customers. Some of these things, such as publishing the customer comments we receive, are already in place. Others, like providing furniture reviews, are now starting to appear on our website. Another new feature we are currently looking at is the introduction of furniture discount vouchers and furniture voucher codes. These should help our customers to be certain of getting not only great furniture but of getting it at the very best price – in fact, the right price! Watch this space for more news in the coming months.
Sustainable furniture suppliesFrom time to time we receive enquiries as to whether our furniture is from sustainable timber supplies. Now, it might be easy to dismiss such concerns as those of tree-hugging hippies but, unlike climate change, the indisputable facts about the rainforest are these:
- The Amazon rainforests produce over one-fifth of the world’s oxygen - Every 9 and a half months an area the size of Britain is lost- In 49 years the Amazon will look like the Sahara, at current rates So yes, we do try to ensure our furniture is from sustainable sources – foresters that grow as much timber as they harvest – by using reputable furniture suppliers. For example, when we began selling the
Pembroke range of mahogany furniture, we checked with the supplier Kettle Containers that they had an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certificate for the range. For more information about the FSC go to www.fsc.org. For more information about the rainforests, go to www.rain-tree.com/facts
Pine and Oak furniture
Pine and oak furniture has been sold in Britain for hundreds of years. Traditionally oak was harvested from native British woodlands and the much cheaper pine was imported from Scandinavia. British oak woodlands were decimated by the demands of two World Wars and faster-growing pines were planted in the 50s and 60s to make up the shortfall in timber stocks as quickly as possible.
Today, thanks to easier world trade conditions, timber or finished timber products can be moved more easily around the globe. This has allowed oak furniture to be imported to the UK from various countries. At home, the decline in the strategic importance of timber stocks has enabled conservation to take a higher priority in tree planting. Since the 1980s, broadleaves such as oak have been planted in preference to conifers such as pine.
Both pine and oak are an abundant species found in many parts of the globe. This means that furniture made from either of these materials is more likely to have come from sustainable sources than furniture made from some tropical hardwoods such as mahogany.
Why choose Pine at Christmas time?
Well here we are, less than four weeks to Christmas and, if you're like me, you haven't done any shopping yet. Er, anyway, what's the link between
pine furniture and Christmas? Well pre-Christian religions believe that every living thing - including trees - has a spirit. In the case of trees, the qualities of this spirit remain with the wood so, for example, pine furniture is said to bring wealth and healing - surely welcome to everyone.
So, whether you're celebrating Christmas, Yule, the winter solstice, any other religious festival or simply the gift of human fellowship, then why not consider giving pine furniture :)
